Description by the artist
Celestial Dance is the third painting of the series. Of all the compositions, this is the most realistic and the most technical as the white dots which were painstakingly added one by one, clearly resemble the stars in the night sky or a galaxy landscape.
Unlike the previous paintings, Celestial Dance was deliberately painted in a simple style, as I felt that through its simplicity, this piece would stand out against the other more complex and detailed compositions. For example, the clouds were painted as softly as possible so the constellation in the centre of the space became the viewer’s primary focus. Also as a final decision, a dotted semi circle was added on the left hand side of the constellation of white dots to give the form a sense of structure and depth. In comparison to my other work, there was no real influence behind this painting because at this stage, I was more concerned with going even further into different territory, experimenting with new techniques and methods as a way of trying to convey the notion of the afterlife.
